Introducing Panforte

Panforte is the sweet spice and nut cake of the Tuscan city Siena, its origins dating back in time to before the first medieval Crusades.

In accordance with ancient tradition,  17 ingredients go in to the making of this cake, in honour of the 17 contrade or neighbourhoods that make up the medieval city of Siena.  Traditionally Tuscan’s authentic Panforte is made from all natural ingredients including almonds, glace fruit, honey and spices.

Whilst essentially a Christmas cake, Panforte should be enjoyed year round as an accompaniment to a glass of dessert wine or coffee.  A perfect Italian way to end off a meal.  Serve in thin slices, a little goes a long way.
